OK here we go. Sherry, check. Mince pie, check. Christmas music shuffling, check. Naff decorations bought from CVS Pharmacy on Christmas Eve 20 years ago after returning from covering a disaster somewhere in Central America, check. Let the decorating commence! #christmas #tree #decorating
The Whiddy Island ferry. It’s a ten minute crossing to this tiny island which is a bright green gem of a place. We pedalled through lanes flickering with montbretia to see the Napoleonic-era forts and a lonely graveyard with the remains of a sixth century church. We skimmed stones and had sandwiches by the sea before chugging back to Bantry. #ireland🇮🇪 #whiddyisland #whiddyislandferry #ferries #cork #isolating #exploring #nature #green #history

The Bronze Age stone circle behind our cottage. Apparently they always have two upright entrance stones facing a flat one. They usually line up with a specific celestial event. This one looks like it faces the sunset. Magical. People had left offerings of shells, money and sticks bound with cloth in the middle. #ireland #stonecircle #nature #exploring #green #ancient #mysterious
